Doily Pomanders

{making}

I've been working this week mostly on getting stuff ready for my etsy store I'm planning to open soon, but I did also work on another project or two for some of the parties I have going on this spring.  One of those projects was this doily pomander.  So here's a quick post to show you how I did it.....

All you'll need to make these is 20 doilies (I used 4" size for this size ball... of course bigger doilies make bigger balls), a pen, and a glue stick
Step one:
cut a piece of cardboard into an equilateral triangle (all side the same length and the corners the same angle)... or at least close to it I don't think mine was quite perfect.... make sure the 3 corners of the triangle touch the edges of the doily.  lightly trace it onto the BACK of the doily.

Step Two:
fold the doily along the lines, folding so that the flap folds towards the FRONT side of the doily, (in the second picture the doily is sitting with the front side of the doily facing up)

 Step Three:

glue 5 of the doilies together with the triangle in the centers all pointing the same direction to make a domed circle.  Repeat with another 5 doilies.  These will be the top and bottom of your pomander.

Step four:
glue the remaining 10 doilies together alternating the direction of the center triangle to make a straight strip (this is where it can get a little confusing for a second trying to make sure you are actually making it a straight strip and not another circle, so make sure you take a look at it after you glue the first two or three together... I've made 4 of these so far and I still have to stop and think about how this part goes together lol). Glue the ends of the strip together to make a ring (sorry forgot to get a picture of this). This will be the center of the pomander. Then glue the top and bottom that you already made to the center ring.

 And voila! you're done!

I am getting ready to go out to do some shopping with a friend today and we're planning on hitting the craft stores, so I will probably have plenty more projects to get me through the weekend (although I really do have a lot of housework to get done that kind of got neglected this week...... lol)

oh and P.S. sorry about the quality of some of the pictures for this project... I was trying to take them by myself while working on it and not take a ton of extra time lol
